Warralily donates $100,000 to Anam Cara House Geelong

Warralily directors and the leadership team enjoyed an official tour of the future Anam Cara House Geelong in recognition of their long term support of the project, including a $100,000 donation to help Anam Cara deliver critical palliative care services now and into the future.

Anam Cara House Geelong is a not-for-profit organisation providing unique support for people living with a life-limiting illness and their families. Anam Cara has outgrown their current 4-bed facility and is building a new world-class, purpose-built home located in a beautiful rural setting with elevated views at Deakin University in Waurn Ponds.

Chair of Anam Cara House Geelong, Diana Taylor, confirmed the key role of Warralily in the initiative.

“Anam Cara House Geelong is incredibly grateful to Mark Casey and the Warralily team for their generous support. Mark and Warralily have been with us since the start of this journey when our new home was just a vision.” said Ms Taylor.

“Their support and leadership gave others the confidence to follow, and means that whether you are 18 years of age or 80 years, with our new home available for guests in late September 2022, you will have choice about your care in a calm and beautiful environment.”

The new Anam Cara House Geelong is an Australian first. The architecturally designed facility feels like a home for guests and their families, while being purpose-built to hospital grade. Stage 1 of the state- of-the-art 20-bedroom home is complete and due to open in late September, with 12 bedrooms and day palliative care available for palliative care and end-of-life guests.

Warralily Director Mark Casey said the Warralily team is proud to support Anam Cara in its vision to deliver the highest level of care to residents in the Geelong region.

“As a key contributor to growth in our region, Warralily has always been focused on developing a cohesive and supportive community through the delivery of infrastructure and services. Our contribution to Anam Cara House Geelong is our way of helping to provide comfort to local families when it is needed most.” said Mr Casey.

“Congratulations to Anam Cara House Geelong on a truly innovative facility. Once again, this is a legacy of the amazing efforts of Frank Costa and his brilliance in bringing Geelong together and looking after his community.”

The home and services are available to everyone in the Geelong and wider region, no matter what stage of life or your life circumstances. The $21.5m project has been made possible by the generous support of the Geelong philanthropic and corporate community, along with Australian Federal Government and Victorian State Government funding.

“The Warralily community has been widely embraced by the Geelong community and our donation is an example of us giving support back.” said Mr Casey.

Warralily is the region’s premier residential community at Armstrong Creek and home to a growing population of over 10,000 residents. Recognised by a plethora of state and national awards for its contemporary urban design and environmental excellence, Warralily has a track record in supporting its community through local groups, events and grants.
